Major auto manufacturers are exploring ways to bring technology
currently used to make sunroofs electronically tinted to other glass panels in
the car, potentially offering windows which can shade over on demand.
This same
technology could be coming to other parts of the vehicle, with automotive
sources reporting that some manufacturers have confirmed that they are working
on adapting the technology for side and rear windows.
Other technology like electric auto tint is a not part of
the glass, but a retrofit application that adheres to the inside of the window.
Electric auto tint can adjust the light transmission from lightness to
darkness, controlling window tint level at the press of a button.
The ability to control light transmission allows auto tint
to reduce the amount of infrared and to filter the ultraviolet rays getting into
the vehicle. Through these unique new
technologies, auto tint reduces the amount of heat and radiation inside the car,
improving the comfort level of the passengers on demand.
