Arizona Laws That Cover Windshields

Did you know you could get a ticket for driving with a cracked or broken windshield? Arizona has a series of state laws that cover the requirements for windshields on motor vehicles.

The Arizona Driver’s License Manual states that "Vehicles must have a windshield" and that the windshield must not have cracks.

The Arizona Revised Statutes requires a passenger vehicle to have an "adequate windshield." Usually law enforcement will find a windshield is inadequate if the damage obstructs the driver's view of the roadway.

Whether the windshield on a motorist's automobile is "adequate" is usually decided by a police officer during a traffic stop, and a ticket or citation may or may not be given at the officer’s discretion. The police's idea of what is “adequate” can vary.

Avoid the situation of getting pulled over by the police and getting a costly ticket for an inadequate windshield, and get your vehicle’s cracked or broken windshield replaced immediately.
