When to Replace Your Damaged Windshield

We see it fairly often in our commutes, vehicles with cracked or even broken windshields out on the road. Often times auto owners take for granted the windshield's contribution to a vehicle's structural integrity.

If small damage or even a crack in a windshield is not in the driver's line of site, an auto owner may not feel the sense of urgency to have it replaced or repaired because it seemingly does not impair their driving.

Because a windshield is designed to help contribute to the structural integrity of an automobile, it is of the most importance that the windshield be in sound and solid condition. A damaged windshield will not perform its designed safety function in an accident if the windshield is damaged or cracked.

Any damage to an automobile's windshield should be repaired as soon as possible, and if the damage is unrepairable, the windshield should be replace immediately. The integrity of your vehicle and the safety of the occupants inside depend on your vehicle having a structurally sound, undamaged windshield.

  1. It's interesting that even though the glass damage isn't blocking the driver's line of sight, it could still be dangerous. I didn't realize that the glass actually contributed to the structural integrity of the car. Knowing that, I think it makes sense to get damage repaired as soon as possible. What sorts of things determine whether or not a windshield is "repairable?" http://www.instantwindscreens.com.au/autoglass/replacements/
